Medcom at InnoTrans 2022

In 2050, the European Union is to be climate neutral, and public transport will be powered by clean, green energy from renewable sources and hydrogen. In line with the targets adopted by the European Union in the climate strategy, by 2030, 100 cities should achieve climate neutrality, the number of rail express services will double, and all scheduled collective travel up to 500 kilometres will be neutral in terms of carbon dioxide emissions.

On the way to climate neutrality

The green transformation of public transport is primarily a civilisation challenge and a fight for the future of our planet. But it also has a practical dimension – new public transport in Europe is to be resilient to future crises and more accessible to travellers.

Following these transformations, we need new sources of clean energy, and at the same time technologies that will make vehicles operating in public transport even cheaper in everyday use. For 35 years, Medcom has been developing technologies that reduce energy losses and optimise energy consumption. Our drive systems, combined with a recuperation system, allow you to reduce the energy demand of vehicles by up to 30%.

During this year’s edition of the InnoTrans trade fair, we presented a whole range of new energy-saving solutions for all types of rail vehicles, electric buses and hydrogen vehicles, including drive systems, static converters, energy recuperation and storage systems, chargers and buffer power supplies. The vast majority based on power electronics in silicon carbide (SiC) technology.
