Work of our entire team of employees recognized in Gdańsk

The first day of the fair was concluded with the TRAKO 2021 Gala. During the event, which attracted the whole railway industry, representatives of the company collected two awards and an honorable mention for outstanding accomplishments in the application of new technologies. These are the effects of joint work of Medcom’s entire team of employees:

• Medal of the President of the Association of Polish Electrical Engineers for the ZB110DC100 series battery charger manufactured in the silicon carbide (SiC) technology, with natural cooling, for locomotives and passenger cars.
• Professor Jan Podoski Award – in the “Railway stock parts, sub-assemblies, and equipment” category for the integrated inverter-converter-energy recovery system set manufactured in the silicon carbide technology for trams.
• Honorable mention in the Professor Czesław Jaworski Competition for the latest generation propulsion and power supply system for EMUs.

Rolling stock display with 5 products by Medcom

As part of the TRAKO rolling stock display, 5 vehicles using Medcom’s solutions were presented. They included Newag’s Dragon 2 multi-system electric locomotive with energy-efficient SiC converters, the hybrid Impuls 2 with our propulsion system, the modernized ED74 multiple unit with an asynchronous drive for PKP Intercity, and the new PLUS railway vehicle platform manufactured by FPS (H. Cegielski – Fabryka Pojazdów Szynowych Sp. z o.o.) with a state-of-the-art propulsion and power supply system and an anti-skid control unit.

Railway industry meeting after two years

The remaining days of the fair were marked by conversations and discussions with contracting partners, business partners, and the media. In the studio of the Rzeczpospolita daily, Medcom’s representatives talked about the need to introduce price indexation rules to contracts in order to protect companies in the uncertain times of the pandemic, when raw material prices are rising and components are scarce.

In an interview for the Rynek Kolejowy monthly, in turn, they explained what manufacturers’ success depends on and to what extent Medcom may help seize the opportunities that the new EU budget and recovery assistance programs offer.
