We did it! Just under three years ago, we only had 150 on our track record. This year, we manufactured the 1000th state-of-the-art drive for electric buses. This is yet another important step in the implementation of the company’s strategy, oriented at the development of electric and zero-emission public transport.
Joint success is worth celebrating. This is why we organized a meeting with all the employees who have been involved in the project at its different stages and levels. Their names were inscribed on a commemorative plate put in the 1000th drive.
We started working on our own propulsion system for e-buses in 2013, based on our experience in the production of drives for other types of electric vehicles and with the use of traditional, proven technologies. After several years of development, the electric bus market became one of the most important directions for the company. Currently, electric buses and trolleybuses equipped with Medcom’s solutions operate in over a dozen cities in Poland and in a number of European countries, as well as in Turkey and India.
Today, most drives produced by the company are solutions manufactured in the innovative SiC technology. The propulsion system using silicon carbide is a breakthrough in terms of solutions for electric rolling stock for public transport. This is related primarily to the high level of energy efficiency of this type of devices – the use of silicon carbide in an electric drive makes it possible to considerably limit energy losses and lower its consumption by up to 13% compared to the previously used technologies.
